UPDATE 8/TROPICAL CYCLONE ASANI (02B)
DATE: 12 MAY 2022 | DAY: THURSDAY | TIME: 03:00AM BST (+6 GMT)

The Cyclonic Storm ASANI (02B) over West Central Bay of Bengal has moved further WNW and crossed Andhra Pradesh coast as a Cyclonic Storm and weakened into Deep Depression over Andhra coast.
Multispectral satellite animation continues to less marked rotations of the LLCC(Low Level Circulation Center) along with displacing sheared convection to the West of the center.
It is being located near Machilipatnam, India.

▪Winds(1min avg):-
Average Maximum Wind speed in radius of 50km from the low level center is 55km/h.
Gusting up to 70km/h.

▪Forecast:-
The System is under ufavourable environment due to moderate to high VWS with weak Outflow & burst of dry air intrusion combined with land interaction. Due to which, the system could weaken gradually even rapidly & dissipate within next 24-48hrs.

•The Cyclone had peaked 120kph on 9th May. While gust was up to 145kph.

▪Movement:-
It has moved on WNW direction during past 6hrs with the average speed of 06km/h.
*From the present location, it could move slowly on NW direction over Andhra Pradesh coast, weaken gradually & dissipate while turning NE.

▪Landfall:-
It has crossed Andhra Pradesh coast near Machilipatnam yesterday (11 May 2022) as a weakening minimal Cyclone.

▪Warning:
Andhra Pradesh coast could continue to experience 40-50kph winds along with gusting up to 65kph during next 24hrs by reducing with times.

▪Advisory:-
Fishermen & Small boats are requested to not to venture into West Central Bay of Bengal during next 24hrs.
Sea condition could be rough over the region.

▪Rainfall:-
Due to the direct & indirect Impact of the system, Eastern India & Bangladesh could continue to be effected by moderate to heavy rain along with Tropical Squalls & extremely heavy falls at isolated places across the system track during next 2days.
Instead of Squalls, Bangladesh will be mainly effected by moderate to heavy rain.
